Betty
Betty
Betty is a large gorgeous silver plated brass reproduction of a French bee medal in a clear and black cz jeweled 40mm silver bezel. The back of the coin features a Fleur de Lis.
The pendant hangs from a chain of black enameled XL paperclip links and measures 22.5 inches including the coin drop.
This is a commemorative medal from L'Abeille Compagnies d'Assurances, a prominent French insurance company. The medal was commissioned in 1956 to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary (1856–1956)
The company, L'Abeille (French for "The Bee"), was founded in 1856 in Dijon, France. It was originally established by farmers and vineyard owners to provide specialized insurance, such as for hailstorm damage.
The cities listed on the medal—Paris, Brussels, Milan, Montreal, Madrid, and London—represent the company's major international hubs at the time of its centenary, highlighting its global reach.
Design: The original medal was designed by the renowned French sculptor and engraver Raymond Delamarre. The "bee" imagery is a symbolic play on the company name, traditionally representing community, hard work, and collective wisdom.
